Levon Matevosyan
Levon Matevosyan was born on May 14, 1957, in Yerevan. After leaving secondary school No. 92 in Yerevan, he entered the Polytechnic Institute. In 1976 he joined the Soviet army.
In 1988, he joined the “Sasun” patriotic union, newly formed in the city of Tallinn. He participated in the defense battles of the border villages of Armenia and Artsakh. In 1989, Levon Matevosyan joined the Special Task Force (commander: V. Vardanov). In 1990, he became the commander of the “Vahram Pahlavuni” detachment of Dilijan. In 1992, by the order of the Minister of Defense, he was appointed the head of intelligence for the military unit located in Dilijan. In December of the same year, he was appointed head of the detachment in Jil-Artanish territory. In 1993, by the order of the Minister of Defense, Levon Matevosyan was appointed commander of the Artanish military unit. In October 1996, he was appointed commander of the training battalion located in Vanadzor. In 1999, he became deputy head of the “Mountain Armenia” sanatorium. In 2002, he joined the Dilijan intelligence battalion as the battalion commander’s deputy in charge of educational work with the staff.
In 2004, he was transferred to the Ijevan regiment as a contract battalion commander. In 2009, Levon Matevosyan was appointed as the deputy in charge of educational work with the staff of the commander of the second battalion of the military unit located in Mehrab. He holds the rank of lieutenant colonel. He received the state medal for “Combat Service,” the departmental medal “Vazgen Sargsyan,” medals for “The Brave Men of Artsakh,” “Participant in the Vahan Detachment Combat Operations,” as well as the jubilee medals for the “RA Armed Forces 20th Anniversary,” “5th Brigade 20th Anniversary,” “Yerkrapah 25,” “5th Brigade,” “Yerkrapah” commemorative medals, and a “Combat Participant” badge. Since 1993, Levon Matevosyan has been President of the Dilijan Regional Department of Yerkrapah Volunteer Union and Head of the “Patani Yerkrapah” Club In Tavush Region. Since 2012, he has been working as a teacher.
